A Focus Point for Improving Mental Health

What is our community 'Walk & Talk' event all about?

Each month, I will be hosting a 'Walk & Talk' event in Folkestone and the surrounding areas. These walks will immerse you in nature, allowing us to enjoy the positive effects our natural surroundings have on our mental health. The Mental Health Foundation states that "connecting with nature is also associated with lower levels of poor mental health, including lower depression and anxiety." Folkestone boasts some wonderfully beautiful natural locations, and my goal is to help the local community appreciate them.

During each walk, we will pause for a short talk on a relevant mental health topic. This might include strategies for dealing with anxiety or ways to recognize the signs of depression. As an experienced and BACP registered counsellor, I am confident to give these talks to you.

The event is open to anyone interested in mental health, whether you are struggling yourself or simply want to learn more. It's a safe, supportive environment, and we aim to share a few smiles along the way.

Our LAUNCH event is Sunday 23rd June.

Start Point: East End entrance to Lower Leas Coastal Park

Discussion Topic: How nature can reduce symptoms of anxiety
